“Take a deep breath, and just enjoy life…”
Paris has a many parks, small and big, known and unknown. I like to be in the park, regardless of the season. I love sitting in the sun with a book on one of the green chairs or taking long walks when autumn turns the park into a gold and reddish-brown spectacle.
Here are some of my few favorite parks I would like to share with you.
Jardin du Luxembourg.
My absolute number one on the list! This park is very popular with locals and tourists, but somehow it never seems too crowded. The center of the park is the octagonal pond with the palace in the background.
There is a lot to do here for both children and adults. There is an open-air café, a music tent, tennis courts and a beekeeper school. Don’t forget to visit the beautiful La Fontaine Médicis. A perfect place to step out of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Address: The park is located in the 6th arrondissement and has several entrances. Check the City Mapper app for more info.
Opening hours: various per season. Click here for more info.
Parc Monceau.
A beautiful park in the 8th arrondissement. It’s quiet and very romantic with its columns, lovely bridges, statues and colorful flower beds. A perfect place to have a picnic under the trees or on the beautiful lawns.
Address: 35 Boulevard de Courcelles, 75008 Paris
Opening hours: summer: 7.00 am to 10.00 pm – winter 7.00 am to 8.00 pm.
Parc des Buttes Chaumont.
A park with many height differences and therefore, with great views over Paris! From the temple on top of the hill you have an amazing view of Montmartre. The caves, waterfalls and suspension bridges make the park extra special.
Address: 1 Rue Botzaris, 75019 Paris
Opening hours: varying. Approximately from sunrise to sunset.
Jardin des Tuileries.
One of the most visited parks in Paris, located between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. A perfect place to take a seat on the benches or chairs and start people watching. In the summer there is a fun fair with lots of eateries where you can buy all kinds of fairground treats.
Address: Place de la Concorde, 75001 Paris
Opening hours: September to March: 7.30 am to 7.30 pm. March to September: 7.00 am to 9.00 pm and in the summer months to 11.00 pm.
Bois de Boulonge.
This huge park in the 16th arrondissement is the largest park in Paris with its 846 hectares. You can find here lovely streams, ponds, a waterfall and there is plenty to do. You can rent a boat, go horseback riding, swimming, cycling and there is even a small zoo. In the Bois de Boulogne you can find more than 35 km of hiking trails, 8 km of cycle paths and 39 km of bridleways.
Address: The park is located in the 16th arrondissement and has several entrances. Check the City Mapper app for more info.
