“I’m just a beachy kind of girl.”
During the heatwave I was so thankful for the many city beaches Paris has to offer. It’s the perfect place to cool down a little. The city beaches along the Seine are becoming more beautiful every year and they are certainly worth a visit even if it’s not 42!! degrees.
Walk along the Seine on the Voie Georges Pompidou, between Pont Neuf and Pont Marie and take a seat on one of the many beach chairs, hammocks or lawns. Bring your own snacks for a picnic or grab a bite at one of the beach bars along the shore.
And if it’s too hot, don’t forget to find a refreshment under the sprinklers once in a while. It’s the best invention in years!
Openings hours: from July 6 to September 1, 2019 on the right bank of the Seine between the Louvre and Pont Marie. Metro stations: Louvre-Rivoli, Hôtel de Ville and Pont Marie.
Bassin de la Villette.
If you would like to take a dip, go then to the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement.
There are three basins where you can splash. There are also possibilities to rent a pedal-, row- or sailing boat.
When you’re in the mood for something more romantic, go for a picnic on the water. Rent a boat at Marin d’Eau Douce and discover another side of Paris from the Canal Saint-Martin and the Canal de l’Ourcq. For more info click here.
Openings hours: from July 6 to September 21, 2019 (except August 15) daily from 11 am to 9 pm.
