“There’s only one happiness in life: to love and be loved.” George Sand.
It is almost Valentine’s Day and I feel so privileged I can celebrate this day in my beloved Paris, because what could be more romantic than being in the City of Love on the day of love?
My sweetheart and I have our own Valentine’s tradition. We spend the morning in bed with an extensive breakfast. Warm croissants, fresh fruit, pastries, a creamy latte and homemade cookies. We’re unpacking the presents we’ve bought for each other and then we go into town.
Every year we choose something to do that we have never done or seen in the city. And in between those walks, we drink the famous chocolat chaud and eat the best pastries. And after a whole day of exploring the city, we dine extensively in a romantic restaurant and then go for a long stroll along the Seine. Sounds perfect, right?
I really love this day full of presents, delicious food, lots of love and even more chocolate.
Because Valentine’s Day without chocolate is unthinkable, I give you a few addresses where you can drink the best chocolat chaud and eat amazing pastries and macarons.
Are you preferring to make the chocolate drink yourself? At the end of the blog, you will find the recipe of David Lebovitz’s famous Parisian Hot Chocolate drink.

Note: This hot chocolate improves if made ahead and allowed to sit for a few hours. Rewarm before serving. You can also add a few flecks of fleur de sel, the very good sea salt from Brittany.
